ITANAGAR, Oct 21: The Arunachal Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (APMCC) has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is playing the lowest level of “politics of masculinity” by constituting a three member committee comprising of fellow Cabinet ministers to look into sexual harassment charges emerging from the #MeToo movement.
“It is least expected from PM Modi to talk on issue of the #MeToo movement, but by rejecting the proposal to form four-member committee constituting senior/ retired judicial and legal persons as members to examine issues arising from the #MeToo movement, Modi has shown his true face of patriarchal gendered being”, APMCC president Nabam Yakum said.
Modi should learn that it is time that he treats women with respect and refrain from playing politics by outraging women’s dignity. It is time Modi upholds his promises on women’s safety, Yakum added.
