PASIGHAT, Dec 9: “Discipline is an essential part of our life and helps to correct and improve our personality and moral character,” said retired IAF group caption Mohonto Panging, addressing students, teachers and parents during the anniversary celebration of Green Valley School (GVS) here in East Siang district on 8 December.
“Parents, elders and teachers are the first persons to introduce the sense of discipline to the children and ensure smooth flow of life without putting hindrance to the individuals in achieving their ambitions in life,” Panging, who was the chief guest of the event, said.
He said a society without proper discipline “encourages unsocial activities such as violence and bad behavior. We all want to see our kids going towards success, which is only possible through proper education and discipline.”
Panging also urged the teaching community to take the responsibility to nurture their students with honesty, devotion and dedication.
“They must hold discussions with their students about the importance of discipline and education, and offer all the advantages of education to channel their minds towards studying better,” he said.
Panging later gave away awards and certificates to the achievers on the occasion.
Earlier, Siang Royal BEd College principal KC Mishra said proper education “creates ways to go ahead in the future, making one strong mentally, socially and intellectually.”
GVS principal Anil TG presented a report on progress and achievements of the school. Green Valley Welfare Society president Opang Tayeng, and the chairman of the school’s management committee, Dr Tapi Ering, also spoke. (DIPRO)
