KVK felicitates farmwomen on Mahila Kisan Divas

KARSINGSA, Oct 16: KVK Papum-Pare has felicitated Kara Ama of Mani village, Taba Yakhi of Kimin and Licha Ampi, owner of Loli Nursery of Lekhi village for their hard work in the field of horticulture, sericulture and floriculture respectively on the occasion of Mahila Kisan Divas celebrations at KVK Campus here on Sunday last.
While briefing about the objective of the celebration, Senior Scientist & Head (i/c), Tadang Meena said that the celebration is aimed at recognizing invaluable contribution of women in agriculture development and in growth of national economy.
Banderdewa ZPM, Kipa Aruni in her address urged womenfolk to become self reliant and asked participants to engage in income generating activities on agriculture and allied sectors.
Director of Animal Husbandry Veterinary, Dr. N.D. Minto also spoke on the occasion.
As part of celebration, extempore speech competition was also conducted and winners were given certificates along with cash prizes.
Earlier, the farm women were taken to different demonstration unit of KVK farms where they were imparted training on cultivation under Bly house/Shade net house, mulching/groundcover, vermicom-posting, drip irrigation etc.
At Tawang, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tawang celebrated the Day at Changbu village wherein 30 farmwomen took part including Changbu Anchal Samiti Member, Lobsang Eton.
Speaking on the occasion, SMS (Plant Protection), L Borah appealed to the farmers to avail the benefits of new technologies related to agriculture and allied sectors for better production.
A debate competition was also held among the women participants on the occasion winners of which were awarded later.
