ITANAGAR, Dec 13: The Galo Students’ Union (GSU) has requested the health & family welfare minister to post a surgeon and a medicine specialist at the general hospital (GH) in West Siang HQ Aalo.
In a representation to the minister, the union on Thursday said the GH, which has recently been designated as a zonal hospital, is running without a medicine specialist and a surgeon.
“Due to absence of a medicine specialist and a surgeon, even minor diseases are being referred to other hospitals, causing untold miseries to the patients,” it said.
It said although Drs Kenba Padu (surgeon) and Lito Ete (medicine specialist) had been posted to the GH a few months back, the surgeon has been absorbed in the TRIHMS and the medicine specialist has been retained at the district hospital in East Kameng HQ Seppa, “rendering the transfer and posting of them anfractuous.”
The GSU urged the state government to issue necessary direction for the joining of Drs Padu and Ete at the Aalo GH immediately.
