Basar & Nari-Koyu win boys’ & girls’ football titles
LIKABALI, Dec 26: The district level Hangpan Dada Memorial Football and Volleyball Trophy Tournament for Lower Siang district concluded at the Daying Ering Football Stadium, Nari on 24 December with boys’ final match played between Basar and Nari-Koyu constituencies.
Basar beat Nari-Koyu to win the boys’ football title while Nari-Koyu won the girls’ football title defeating Likabali.
Likabali constituency won both the boys’ and girls’ volleyball titles.
They beat Nari-Koyu in the boys’ category and Basar in the girls’ category, informed DSO Nada Apa.
Bato Basar and Gode Rolley were adjudged the best football players in the boys’ and girls’ section respectively.
In volleyball, the best player titles in the boys’ and girls’ sections went to Jummo Nyicyor and Goyir Taipodia respectively.
The winners of football and volleyball tournaments in both the sexes were awarded cash prizes of Rs 50,000 each, while the runner-up teams were given Rs 25,000 each.
Best football players in both the sexes were awarded cash prize of Rs 7000 each, while in volleyball, the best players were awarded Rs 5000 each.
Nari-Koyu MLA Kento Rina, along with Nari ADC Bani Lego distributed trophies, prizes, certificates and medals to the winners, runners-up and individual achievers.
The MLA highlighted the benefits of playing sports to stay physically fit and mentally sound.
“Sports help the youth stay away from unproductive activities and also help in overall personality development,” he said and encouraged the youths to take up sports sincerely.
Informing about the job reservation for meritorious sportspersons, the MLA advised the youths to grab the opportunity by excelling in their chosen sports.
The district level competition was kicked-off by SP Taru Gusar on 22 December.
