LIROMOBA, Dec 27: The 3rd edition of the 10-day Liromoba Sports Carnival 2018, which featured an array of games and sports including football, marathon, volleyball, etc, concluded at the general ground here in West Siang district on Sunday.
Eighteen teams from 20 anchal samiti (AS) segments under the Liromoba assembly constituency participated in the events.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Liromoba MLA Nyamar Karbak said the carnival was conceived with the aim of spotting hidden talents and fostering the spirit of teamwork among the panchayati raj leaders.
“This sports carnival is slowly turning into a landmark event and it will go a long way in finding sports talents from the far-flung and backward areas of the constituency,” he said.
Karbak highlighted the state government’s sports policy, and the reservation quota for meritorious sportspersons. The next edition of the event will be held at Yomcha, he informed.
Organising chairman Kajar Gamlin also spoke.
Darak Boje AS segment and All Karbak Geyi ASM segment emerged the champions in the football and volleyball events, respectively. In women’s marathon race, Kiter Bole was declared the winner, while Keyi Romin stood second.
