KHUPA, Jan 16: Awareness training programme on cultivation and processing of aromatic plants was organised by the district KVK unit in collaboration with CSIR NEIST, Jorhat at the KVK office here in Anjaw district.
Sixty-seven farmers, farm women and rural youth attended the training programme.
KVK Senior Scientist & Head Dr Manish Kanwat encouraged all the farmers to adopt cultivation of aromatic plants as a means of earning extra income.
Scientist CSIR NEIST from Jorhat, Dr Mohan Lal gave detailed information about the importance of medicinal and aromatic plants. He also spoke on the critical aspects of cultivation of aromatic plants like patchouli, citronella grass.
Spice Board Senior Field Officer, Dr Senthil Kumaran also spoke about the different schemes and cultivation techniques of large cardamom.
Towards the end of the programme, a farmer-scientist interaction was held to discuss the various problems faced by the farmers of Anjaw district.
