DOIMUKH, Jan 30: The 12th Bn NDRF observed the 71st death anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi as Martyrs’ Day at its battalion headquarters near here on Wednesday.
Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Vinayak Godse on this day in 1948.
Led by 12th Bn NDRF Second-in-Command Arun Deogam, the NDRF personnel paid tribute to Gandhi and all other freedom fighters and observed two minutes’ silence in memory of those who gave their lives in the struggle for India`s freedom.
Additionally, the NDRF conducted a school safety programme on disaster management at Delhi Public School, near here in Chimpu on Wednesday.
One hundred persons, including 42 female students were benefited from the school-safety programme.
A similar programme was conducted by the personnel at LP School, Rajgarh, Biswanath district in Assam where 203 persons were benefited.
