ROING, Jan 30: A one-day centralized hiking day of seven Scout & Guide units of Lower Dibang Valley district schools was conducted at the Scout &Guide Camping Park here on 28 January.
Addressing the gathering, DDSE cum District Chief Commissioner (Scout), Ego Doye highlighted the importance of the scouting and guiding movement and the role it plays in youth development around the country.
DTO (Scout) Somit Mena informed that the programme was organized to introduce the scouts and guides to the new training centre of the district and facilitate interaction among scout and guide units of different schools of the district.
The day saw a cultural performance by over 200 scouts and guides.
In the cooking competition for scout and guides, Government Upper Primary School, Cheta, Government Secondary School, Mayu and Government Upper primary School, New Colony bagged first, second and third positions, respectively. (DIPRO)
