Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting state on February 9 next to lay the foundation stone for green field airport at Hollongi. The controversy ridden project is finally seeing the light of day after so many years. First there was issue with the site of the project. Both Karsingsa and Hollongi were considered but Airport Authority of India (AAI) finally zeroed in on Hollongi. However the land compensation became a major bone of contention. The centre initially refused to pay the compensation claiming they are too high. A compromise was reached and on Friday the distribution of land compensation for Greenfield airport began.
The people are accepting the compensation package offered by centre though it is a reduced one. This is a sign of maturity and the people of Hollongi need to be appreciated. The cooperation of land owners will be critical for this project to be success. With compensation issue almost resolved, now focus will shift towards construction part. The construction work is expected to start soon. State government will have to provide all the necessary support to the AAI and ministry of civil aviation department to complete this project on time. The Hollongi green field airport will provide much needed connect air connectivity to the state capital. It is the duty of every citizens of state to extend cooperation for the early completion of airport project. This is a dream coming true movement for the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
