MAYU, Mar 16: The NHPC Dibang Multipurpose Project on Saturday carried out an inspection of the one-month tailoring and handicraft programme which had begun on 1 March, 2019 at the Department of Textile and Handicraft for 40 underprivileged women and girls in Dibang and Lower Dibang Valley districts.
Dibang Multipurpose Project Chief General Manager Biswajit Basu carried out the inspection, along with other senior officers of the NHPC.
Facilitated by members of the self help group, Abbe Geba Neh in association with the state’s department of Textile and Handicraft, the programme is part of the skill development programme under corporate social responsibility & sustainable development scheme.
The training includes tailoring and handicraft classes for 40 women through regular coaching by experts, and aims to empower women in the field of entrepreneurship and self sustenance.
During the inspection, Basu appreciated the efforts made by the women and girls to develop their skills, and in the process earn their livelihood.
The participants and members of Abbe Geba Neh thanked Basu for visiting the training session and encouraging them.
Each of the trainees will be provided with a foot-sewing machine by the NHPC, Dibang Multipurpose Project after successful completion of their training.
