ITANAGAR, Jun 26: All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary In-charge (Arunachal Pradesh) Zenith Sangma convened a meeting with various frontal wings of the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan here on Wednesday and discussed on the poor performance of the party in the recently held elections.
The meeting was held after the completion of assembly and parliamentary elections, held simultaneously in April-May, where the Congress bagged only four seats with Nabam Tuki from Sagalee, Ninong Ering from Pasighat West, Lombo Tayeng from Mebo and Wanglin Lowangdong from Borduria-Bogapani assembly constituencies.
Focussing on the poor performance of the party in the elections, Sangma said that it was felt necessary to have a sitting of all the frontal wings, including the parent organization of the party, to discuss and retrospect the shortfall and other issues confronting the party.
Sangma said, “Congress is an old party and there are ups and down. We do not compare with other parties. The election process is over. We have just collected information from all wings of the party and will inform the high command,” he said.
When his attention was drawn towards the submission of resignation of APCC president Takam Sanjoy to the AICC, taking moral responsibility on the ground of poor performance of the party in the recently concluded election, Sangma said, “it is up to the high command to take a note. Every discussion in the meeting could not be revealed as of now,” Sangma added.
