ITANAGAR, Jul 30: Governor BD Mishra on Tuesday told Health & Family Welfare Minister Alo Libang that the issues of health services and health centres should be the top priority of the state government and the administrations.
Mishra said this when Libang called on him at the Raj Bhavan here to discuss healthcare-related issues.
“Good health of every citizen and clean and hygienic environment are vital for the overall development of the state,” the governor said.
He expressed concern over the shortage of medical officers and paramedic staffs and health-related infrastructure in the far-flung areas of the state.
“Adequate and appropriate services and infrastructure must be made available in every health centre to ensure providing proper, institutionalized medical aid,” Mishra said.
He advised the minister to explore innovative ways to strengthen the health facilities and doctors’ positioning in the state, “particularly in difficult and isolated areas.”
He also asked Libang to prepare a “medical officers’ rotation plan on equitable deployment basis.”
Libang took note of the suggestions offered by the governor with regard to the health department and the supervisory role of senior civil servants. (Raj Bhavan)
