ITANAGAR, Sep 13: Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar inspected various branches of the civil secretariat establishments here on Friday in order to get acquainted with the organizational setups and their workings.
Kumar was accompanied by GA Secretary Sadhana Deori, IT Special Secretary Bhanu Prabha, PWD Capital Division A EE Tana Nekam Tara, Capital Subdivision 5/A AE Gollo Tagar, and junior engineers of the PWD and the power departments.
Advocating using technology to set up better-integrated and more efficient systems, the CS called for digitization of the service books and other office records and proceedings, such as receipt and dispatch, salary statements, file movements, etc, during his inspection of the bill branch, the receipt & dispatch branches, the SBI branch, and the NIC branch in the secretariat.
He directed the GA secretary and the IT special secretary to “come up with a centralized plan where all these could be recorded permanently in digital format, which will help to integrate different departments into one platform.”
Kumar also suggested that the pay statements be sent through mobile messages instead of in hardcopy, “thereby minimizing the use and wastage of inks (cartridges) and papers.”
The CS also checked some of the service books of the All India Service and APCS officers during his inspection.
He further directed the PWD engineers to repair leakages and maintain the beauty and cleanliness of the civil secretariat building. (CSO)
