ITANAGAR, Oct 28: Women & Child Development (WCD) Minister Alo Libang on Monday released information education & communication (IEC) materials under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) at his office here.
The PMMVY is a conditional maternity programme of the state’s WCD ministry, under which Rs 5,000 is given to a first-time mother in three installments, subject to fulfillment of terms and conditions. The amount is transferred to the beneficiary’s account through the DBT mode, using a web-based system called the PMMVY common application software.
Speaking on the occasion, WCD Director TP Loyi said the IEC materials have been designed “with a local touch, so that target beneficiaries can easily identify the scheme and avail it.”
She said the IEC materials include a video and a radio jingle “in simple language that can be understood by everyone in the state.”
The minister commended the department’s effort to customize the IEC materials for the state. He also lauded the PMMVY team, comprising CDPOs, supervisors, and anganwadi workers and helpers, “for enrolling more than 10,000 beneficiaries in the system and paying 8,730 beneficiaries.”
DD (HQ) N Ringu, PMMVY nodal officer Dorjee K Thungon, CDPO (HQ) Lenzing Tagi, and other officials of the WCD directorate attended the programme.
