ZIRO, Nov 13: School Students, Gaon Burahs, Gaon Buris, representatives from the NGOs, Panchayat Raj Institutions and common villagers enthusiastically participated in the 3rd edition of Mission Clean Kley River, a calendar event of Ziro Valley organized here on Monday. The entire 21km stretch of the river Kley and its tributaries which is the lifeline of Ziro Valley was cleaned during the day.
An initiative by Apatani Youth Association (AYA) the young and the old came together and cleared garbage, mostly plastic that filled more than 12 mini trucks. The waste collected today will be disposed off on Tuesday, said President AYA Taku Chatung.
Chatung appealed to the public to pledge not to pollute the rivers.
“We as responsible citizens need to change our mindsets and inculcate social responsibilities,” he said.
AYA has expressed gratitude to the district administration and the PHED for its unconditional support for the cause of cleaner Ziro. (ATNS with DIPRO)
