TATO, Nov 26: The 4th Hangpan Dada Memorial Football and Volleyball Tournaments for both the sexes got underway here in Shi-Yomi district on 25 November.
Inaugurating the tournament, DC Mito Dirchi said the district has plenty of sports talents, and that such tournaments provide an opportunity to identify latent talents.
He cited the example of Joti Mane (from Shi-Yomi) who became the first athlete from the state to win a gold medal in a national athletics championship. He also exhorted the players to maintain sportsmanship spirit.
Teams from Mechuka, Tato, Pidi and Monigong are taking part in the tournament. (DIPRO)
