Fire claims five lives at Ziro

ZIRO, Nov 21: At least five people were charred to death after a fire broke out in a rent house at Kudung Barang Village in Ziro at around 5.40 PM on Tuesday.
Reportedly, the four males and one female were tenants in the 14-room barrack-style house, which has been reduced to ashes, rendering all the tenants homeless.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and the dead are yet to be identified as their bodies have been charred beyond recognition.
The fire has also reportedly caused huge loss of property of the families, which will soon be accessed by the administration.
Deputy Commissioner Kemo Lollen informed that the Indian Air Force fire tenders stationed at the Advanced Landing Ground were pressed into service to douse out the ravaging fire. However, the fire could not be contained on time to save the five lives.
Lower Subansiri Superintendent of Police Bomge Kamduk, officers of the District Administration and ZPM of Danyi Buker are monitoring the incident spot, while the District Administration has engaged rescue operation teams and relief team.
This is the second fire incident in Ziro within a span of three days.
