RAGA, Mar 26: Local MLA Tarin Dakpe has donated two months’ salary, amounting to Rs 2 lakhs, to support the Kamle district administration’s fight against Covid-19, and urged the public to refrain from participating in any kind of social gathering.
“Instead of panicking, awareness about the virus and obeying the directives from the health department in letter and spirit will help us fight the epidemic,” Dakpe said, and urged religious leaders and students to create widespread awareness on Covid-19 through social media and WhatsApp groups.
The MLA requested the district’s people to assist the administration and the health department in identifying those who have returned from different parts of the country, and said, “Effectively monitoring and ensuring that home quarantine is practiced in letter and spirit can prevent the spread of Covid-19.”
He commended DC Hengo Basar and DRCHO, Dr Kapu Sopin, who have been personally visiting all the quarantine and isolation centres and ensuring that no stone is left unturned to combat the disease.
In Changlang district, Changlang South MLA Phosum Khimhun has donated a month’s salary to the district administration for carrying out Covid-19 prevention activities.
The MLA urged the district’s people to “stringently follow the 21-day lockdown and confine themselves, unless they have acute emergencies.”
He also urged the people to observe physical distancing but not panic.
Bordumsa MLA Somlung Mossang has donated 100 quintals of rice, besides Rs 2 lakhs, as assistance for the area’s daily wage earners and students staying at different quarantine centres. (With inputs from DIPROs)
