PASIGHAT, Sep 9: During a Special Summary Revision of electoral roll on September 8, East Siang District Election Officer, Tamiyo Tatak announced that October 3, 2017 has been set as qualifying date for draft publication, while filing of claims and objections would be entertained till October 23, 2017 and final publication of electoral rolls would be done on 5 January, 2018 next.
In a meeting with EROs, AEROs, admin officers and representatives of political parties, the DEO further informed that the Election Commission of India has directed to launch a comprehensive Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) plan for Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll with reference to January 1, 2018 for registration of all eligible citizens.
All eligible electors who are likely to attain 18 years of age on January 1, 2018 should submit their claims and objections to the concerned designated officer of respective EROs of the constituencies (appointed polling station wise) between October 3 to 23.
All cases of claims and objections would be examined by respective EROs/AEROs for acceptance/rejection etc, he added.
Informing that the Election Department is exercising to register all eligible voters who have attained the age of 18 years or above as on January 1, 2017, EAC (Election) Oli Perme sought cooperation from all the political parties to make the campaign a success and appealed to identify and appoint BLAs for each polling booth for smooth conduct of the special campaign for roll revision process.
