ITANAGAR, Sep 12: Defending Champion Naharlagun United FC (NUFC) and Arunachal United FC (AUFC) entered into the semifinals of the 5th Veteran Cup Football Tournament.
NUFC came from behind to defeat East Kameng FA 2-1 in the first quarterfinal and AUFC beat E&K’s 6-4 in the second quarterfinal to book their berth in the semifinals.
The East Kameng team took an early lead, scoring just one minute into the match. NUFC’s Orin Lego restored the parity in 41st minute. The winning goal was scored in 80th minute by Tage Tath, who was later declared “Hero of the Match.”
The second quarter-final match between AUFC and E&K’s was evenly poised until 83rd minute, when Dojum Nomuk scored the 5th goal for AUFC (5-4). Taja Bonung netted the sixth goal a minute later to make the final score 6-4.
Kage Dodum of AUFC was chosen as the “Hero of the Match”.
