‘Govt to take action against RMSA teachers’

ITANAGAR, Sep 16: The government reportedly responded to the indefinite pen down strike of the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) teachers with a message to respective DDSE offices across the state to take action against the non-performing RMSA teachers.
This was informed by the Central Executive Committee of Arunachal RMSA Teachers Association in a communiqué on Saturday.
The teachers resented that the government asked DDSEs to take action against the teachers, but were unwilling to pay them their rightful salaries.
Highlighting that all other contractual employees under the SSA, DRDA, etc were also deprived of their salaries, and they too had to resort to democratic movements, the CEC ARMSATA said that it would continue with the strike till their earlier five months’ salaries was released, and the additional salary for September as well.
“The state government and Education Department should not treat RMSA teachers as bonded labours by not paying salaries for months on end. The RMSA teachers cannot carry out their noble profession with empty stomachs and frustrated minds”, it said, adding that the file for their salaries was lying at the Finance Department.
The indefinite strike of the state RMSA teachers reached its third day on September 16, and the teachers’ association said that it would continue with its strike till they were paid their pending salaries.
The first phase of the democratic movement was held on September 5, while the second phase was held on September 11 last.
