PASIGHAT, Sept 18: The elected leaders of East Siang district, including Councilors of Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) and PRI members assembled in a meeting at Pasighat on Sunday and opposed the rationalization process of teachers.
The house opined that the indiscriminate transfer of teachers near the half-yearly examinations would definitely hamper the students.
According to reports, the state’s Education Department by an order transferred as many as 151 teachers serving in various schools in East Siang district to other districts, which is causing dissatisfaction among the students as well as their parents.
The authority earlier this year ordered transfer of 218 teachers within East Siang district, which resulted in a massive reaction.
According to the elected leaders, transfer of teachers in mid-academic session is worrying the students, who are preparing for half yearly examinations.
“We are not opposing the rationalization of teachers, but it should not be done in the mid-academic session by hampering the teaching-learning process”, said PMC Chief Councilor, Kaling Doruk.
The elected leaders have appealed to the Pasighat DDSE, local MLA Kaling Moyong and state’s Education Minister to take step for temporary halt or stay of the transfer order for the sake of students.
The list of transferred teacher includes name of Kangkep Perme of Jarkong Upper Primary School, who received the National Teachers’ Award-2016 this year. Moreover, many senior teachers, who are nearing superannuation, are also being transferred to remote districts.
