ITANAGAR, Sep 22: Football fever is all set to grip state with the start of TK Arunachal Super League (ASL) from Saturday onwards. Organized by Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA), a total of seven clubs will vie with each other for the top honour during the two-month-long league tournament. Following the pattern of European league format the matches will be played on weekend Saturday and Sunday.
While talking to this daily APFA General Secretary Kipa Ajoy informed that during opening ceremony the players who represented Arunachal for the first time in a national level football tournament in 43rd Santosh Trophy held in 1993 at Kerala will be felicitated. Further APFA General Secretary has appealed to the football fans to come out in large number to support the league. “With limited resources we are trying our best to bring professionalism into game of football in Arunachal. This we are doing to unearth more talent by providing a platform for them. We hope state government will also provide us some help,” said Ajoy.
Meanwhile Arunachal Football Association President, Takam Sanjoy has fervently appealed to all the participating players in the ensuing TK Arunachal Super league to play in team spirit and with sense of brotherhood.
Sanjoy was addressing the players of Todo United Football Club(TUFC) during the launching of its team kit. He said that there is a need of professional club in the state which help to popularize football. Sports Authority of Arunachal Vice Chairman G Doke also called on players to maintain team spirit and adhere to the guidelines of the super league.
TUFC Chairman Takam Dado Tallom said that TUFC have given platform to many players and some of them have played in Assam, Kerala and New Delhi. The team is coached by Tarh Juna.
