Itanagar-Hollongi highway murder: Brother, cousins arrested

ITANAGAR, Sep 26: The Papum Pare district police made a breakthrough in the suspected murder of one Raling Sangdo, and arrested his brother Taling Sangdo, one Kor Tawe and two other cousins on the night of September 25 from Naharlagun.
Following an FIR on September 2 last by the Gaon Burah of Hollongi that an unidentified body was found in the jungles about 200 mtrs away from the Itanagar-Hollongi highway, a team of police officials under the supervision of Yupia SP Tumme Amo began immediate investigations.
During a post mortem examination of the deceased, a tattoo mark “Raling” was found engraved on his left leg.
Identifying that the name Raling is generally used by people from Seppa, the Papum Pare police team contacted the Seppa unit police and the deceased’s identity was established as Raling Sangdo, brother of alleged accused Taling Sangdo, who is now under judicial custody in c/w Seppa Police Station under section 302/201 IPC.
The team also identified the family and relatives of the missing report complainants at the Seppa Police Station and carried out raids simultaneously at Karsingsa and Itanagar.
Interestingly, the complainant was also one of the alleged accused, Kor Tawe.
The police team had brought in some suspects and thoroughly interrogated them, and zeroed down on three suspected murderers, who are also the brother and cousins (aged 18 to 24) of the deceased.
Subsequently, the team conducted raids at Seppa and other locations and arrested the alleged accused on the night of September 25 from Naharlagun.
The alleged accused were produced in the Yupia Court on Tuesday and sent to seven days police remand for interrogation and further investigation.
Earlier on September 2, the semi-decomposed body of Taling Sangdho was sighted in a nearby jungle about 200 metres away from the Itanagar-Hollongi highway, with both his hands tied behind his back.
The police team also included Yupia DSP, Dr Neelam Nega, Inspector B Tangjang, OC PS Doimukh, SI B Krong (IO) OC PS Balijan, ASI N Rama, ASI Nabam Tate, civil police and IRBn personnel.
