ITANAGAR, Oct 1: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, P B Acharya and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have conveyed their greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
The Governor expressed hope that the occasion will guide all towards Gandhi’s path of truth, non-violence and cleanliness. He also hoped that it would stir up people’s conscience towards universal peace, global unity, true compassion and swachhta (Cleanliness).
The Governor said that in pursuance of Gandhi’s ideas, the Government of India has launched ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ on this occasion to create a ‘Clean India’ of Gandhi’s dreams of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Hai’. He appealed to the people of the state to actively get involved in cleanliness drive.
“On this momentous day, let us once again remind ourselves of Gandhiji’s ideals and pledge to work for ‘Swachh Bharat’ so as to create a new India”, the Governor exhorted.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu also extended his best wishes to the people on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation.
In a message this evening, Pema emphasized on the teachings of the Mahatma, which are relevant for all times.
“Gandhiji’s teachings on non-violence will always be relevant. However, at times when we are everyday splashed with news reports of violence from various parts of the country and the world his teachings attain supreme significance. Violence of any form and hatred of any degree are best avoided for a peaceful and progressive society,” he observed.
Pema also appealed to the citizens to join hands with the nation in celebrating Swachh Bharat Mission, a cleanliness movement started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which has changed the face of the nation. He sought support of each and every citizen of the state to make this mission a grand success by actively participating in the cleanliness drives.
