NHPC facilitates 100 Swacchata Sewaks on Gandhi Jayanti

GERUKAMUKH, Oct 3: As part of the Swachhta hi Seva campaign 100 Swacchata Sewaks engaged in different activities in the Subansiri Lower Project was felicitated by Executive Director, NHPC Rakesh on Monday during the Gandhi Jayanti celebration. An awareness programme on the need for cleanliness and personal hygiene was also organized for them.
Earlier in the day, a cleanliness drive was held in the Mohari camp area of Dhemaji district wherein the employees posted at Subansiri Lower Project and a large number of local shopkeepers, villagers and youths took part. The event started with senior officers of NHPC led by Executive Director and members of Mohari camp Chamber of Commerce offering garlands on Mahatma Gandhi’s statue located at Mohari camp chariali.
As part of the cleanliness drive, garbage, plastics, and other non-degradable wastes were segregated and disposed off in scientific manner.
Gandhi Jayanti was also celebrated at Kendriya Vidhyalaya, NHPC Gerukamukh where the officials of NHPC along with Principal, teachers and students of the school paid floral tribute to the Father of the Nation. Similar function was also held at Vivekanada Kendra Vidyalaya(VKV) Dollungmukh.
A marathon race with the motto “Health is Wealth and Say no to Drugs” as part of Swachha Bharat Mission was organised by the Kaying village Solung Festival Celebration Committee to mark Gandhi Jayanti celebration. Among others, EAC incharge Shanti Mize, MO PHC Kaying Dr. Gomin Bagra and ASI G Jini participated in the event which witnessed massive participation by the PRI members and general public.
Addressing the event, EAC incharge advised the public to keep the village clean to support and provide encouragement to the objective of Swacch Bharat Mission. Terming drugs as a social evil and explaining about its ill effects for the society she urged all to join efforts towards its eradication. At ZIRO, the Christian English School, Nenchalya, Old Ziro run under the Eternal Life Society celebrated Gandhi Jayanti by conducting free medical check-up for the students of the school.
Medical team from Rashtriya Bal Surakshit Karyakram, Ziro led by Dr. Techi Koyum and Dr. Padi Kamin and health staffs were present on the occasion.
Earlier, school also joined in mass social service organized by Nenchalya Bazar Committee (NBC). The school donated eight number of dustbins to the NBC and handed over to its general secretary Koj Pullo.
