APETA’s statement rejected

ITANAGAR, Oct 9: The Arunachal Teachers’ Association (ATA) has in a release on Monday strongly rejected the Arunachal Pradesh Elementary Teachers’ Association’s (APETA) recent statement, wherein it has complained to the Secretary Education, blaming the Capital Complex DDSE of deducting annual membership fees of the ATA.
Terming the statement as illogical and unjustified, the ATA stated that it had issued a notification after an executive meeting on September 9, 2017 to all ATA district units for collection and deduction of ATA annual membership fees for immediate conduct of 10th ATA general conference cum election, 2014.
“Accordingly, ATA district units collected and deducted ATA annual membership fees as per direction given by ATA, CEC and not by the DDSE of the district unit throughout the state. Hence, the APETA blaming the DDSE and seeking Secretary Education’s intervention into the matter is unjustified”, said ATA Secretary General, Tania Hakom.
It also informed that the annual membership fee of teachers was enhanced from Rs 300 to Rs 500 as per ATA amended modification during the ninth ATA general conference cum election.
“Payment of annual membership by the district ATA unit is mandatory to the functioning of unit and carrying out teacher’s welfare activities and it not meant for individual interest”, the ATA stated.
