ITANAGAR, Oct 23: In a response to the Chief Executive Officer-cum-Additional District Magistrate’s recent statement, the Itanagar Traffic Wardens (ITWs) have in a release on Monday, clarified that they have never refused giving the biometric attendance as alleged by the CEO-cum- ADM.
“We are not declining the Chief Secretary’s direction to give biometric attendance. In fact, we gave our biometric attendance till August 6, 2017. On August 7, we had conducted a daylong peaceful ‘whistle down’ strike after that we had been willing to give the biometric attendance, but the CEO has denied us our attendance citing that we have been discontinued,” the ITWs claimed, adding that they are not against the authority or the government and are only seeking fulfilment of their demands which had been previously assured by the Chief Secretary on January 27, 2017.
On the CEO-cum-ADM’s declaration that payment to the ITWs could not be made due to denial of biometric attendance and their refusal to deployment, the ITWs have explained that they have already submitted duty resume letter and monthly attendance for pay wages, but the authority denied it and they had to make self deployment through the ADC Office, who is the competent authority to accept.
“We have already placed our grievances before the competent authority and we request the concerned authority to discuss our duty deployment system to come under the Deputy Commissioner’s jurisdiction”, they further stated.
