ITANAGAR, Oct 23: A week long training programme on broom making for skill development and employment generation programme under-BADP 2014-15 implemented during 2016-17 started on Monday at Poma village.
The programme is being jointly organized by the State Forest Research Institute, Department of Environment and Forests, in collaboration with Poma Bamboo Processing Centre and is supported by the Tirap district Deputy Commissioner.
Scientist & Programme Coordinator, R K Taj explained the details of training programme and its importance and scopes in mitigating unemployment problems in natural resource available states like Arunachal Pradesh. He informed that broom is an indispensable basic tool, daily used to keep the environment clean.
Citing the examples of successful broom growers and suppliers, he urged the participants to dedicate themselves for better earning opportunities.
Resource person, U V Singh explained the details of its cultivation, management, processing and marketing potentials. Techi Rotu, Managing Director, Poma Bamboo Processing Centre requested the participants to dedicate and avail the opportunities from the trainers and resource persons, who have been invited at Poma BPC, and facilities available in their centre.
