NIT officials apologise to media fraternity

ITANAGAR, Oct 24: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Assistant Registrar Taba Tadhe and Assistant Professor Dr Swarnendu Kumar Chakraborty on Tuesday apologised to the media fraternity of the state for the purported audio clip, wherein they had alleged media persons of demanding money to write in favour of the administration during the NIT fiasco.
The press fraternity had taken exception to the allegation made in the clip and conducted an internal inquiry. After finding the allegations to be frivolous, they lodged an FIR against the duo at the Doimukh Police Station.
Following the complaint, the NIT officials contacted the Arunachal Press Club, Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists and Arunachal Electronic Media Association to clarify their position. Accordingly, a meeting was conducted at the Arunachal Press Club between NIT officials and members of the press fraternity, where the officials clarified that no media person ever approached them for money.
“We would like to make it clear to everyone that no media person contacted us and we also did not contact them to publish or broadcast in favour of us. We apologize and seek forgiveness for unintentional statements made against the media fraternity,” the duo stated in a joint statement.
Earlier this month, a purported audio clip credited to the NIT Assistant Registrar and Assistant Professor was widely circulated in social media, wherein they alleged media persons of demanding money to write in favour of the administration during the NIT fiasco.
