Sensitization prog on SBM and NSAP commences at Seppa

SEPPA, Oct 28: A three-day sensitization cum interactive training programme on Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and National Social Assistance Programme for district level officials and Panchayat leaders of East Kameng district, organized by SIRD, Arunachal Pradesh in collaboration with District Administration and EKSWCO commenced on Friday
Presiding over the training session, East Kameng Social Welfare Cultural Organisation (EKSWCO) Chairman, Safar Pao exhorted the participants to attend the sensitization programme sincerely and avail the opportunity.
Urging everyone to work together as a team for all round development of the district, Pao said, “An individual or a department alone cannot do everything. It is the responsibility of all to participate and contribute for all round development of the district”.
Clarifying the misunderstanding that EKSWCO has superseded and overtaken the role of the PRI and other departments, Pao stated that as a social based organization EKSWCO was involved only in the dissemination and generation of awareness about SBM and ODF. Actual implementation of schemes is the responsibility of PRI and department concerned.
Informing that SBM related IEC activities in collaboration with PHE&WSD were carried out in almost all blocks of the district, the EKSWCO Chairman requested the Heads of Offices (HoO) to adopt at least one village each in respect of SBM and other schemes.
In this regard, he assured that EKSWCO would draw a resolution soon appealing all MLAs, HoOs and local officers of the district to adopt at least one village each for comprehensive development of villages.
EKSWCO General Secretary Nikam Tallang exhorted the PRI members to play their part responsively and collectively.
For better implementation of SBM related activities, he opined for involvement clan-based organization, which in turn would work in cooperation with the PR leaders of that particular village.
Highlighting about the components of SBM (G), EE (PHEW&WSD) Bharat Sonam briefed about the roles and responsibilities of implementing agencies at national, district, block and GP levels; funding process, equity and inclusion, rural sanitary marts, micro financing of construction of IHHL, community sanitary complex, solid and liquid waste management, IEC activities, capacity building and other activities under SBM (G).
He informed the gathering about the problems being faced by the department in implementing the scheme and put forth the true status of mission in the district. He further sought input and suggestion and cooperation from the house to achieve the target of ODF status as per scheduled date.
Meanwhile, East Kameng Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Takuk appealed to the participants to attend the training sincerely and shoulder the responsibility for development of the district.
