Consecration ceremony of monastery in Sunpura

SUNPURA, Oct 28: A consecration ceremony dedicating a new Buddhist monastery, along with images of Lord Buddha, a pagoda, religious scriptures, Sangken temple and a monk quarter commenced at Sunpura on Saturday.
The ceremony, which holds immense importance as per Buddhist religious tradition was held by the Mein family of Sunpura and joined by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein.
The consecration and dedications are performed for accruing merit and as a pious service for Buddhism.
Prayers for world peace, acceptance of Panchasila, Dhamma Savanang, Dana and illumination are part of the two-day ceremony.
Besides monks and devotees from various monasteries and places from Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki, Lohit SP Isaac Pertin and a host of officials of Lohit and Namsai districts also took part in the programme.
