ITANAGAR, Nov 5: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is planning to terminate the 407 km Potin to Pangin road project as the authorities concerned have been unable to provide the required land for the project, informed Regional Officer of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, R K Singh on Sunday.
Singh, who is on a two-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh to inspect all the ongoing national highway roads in the state with his team, also met Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who reportedly assured the team that acquisition of land for ROW of the Potin-Pangin road project would be looked into.
Mein also requested the RO to immediately take up inclusion of the remaining stretches of Itanagar-Banderdewa, Hukanjuri-Khonsa-NH-315 A in the revised annual plan 2017-18 with the competent authority.
The RO team, led by Singh and accompanied by engineers D Ete and S Sumnyam also updated the DCM of the various ongoing projects under the MoRTH in the state.
Earlier, interacting with reporters, here on Sunday, Singh said that he was pleased with the 110km Neechipu to Hoj road, which is under construction by ‘Sushee IVRCL’, and is expected to be completed by March 2018.
Since several portions of that road were washed away during the monsoon, he directed the contractors to maintain the road and make ratification.
On the widening of ongoing capital road, Singh said that as per the National Highway directions, 30 meters is required in the build up area in general, but it was different for hilly areas and a provision of up to a minimum of 20 meters has been kept.
Regarding the Hukanjuri road, Singh said that a small portion of the road has been approved, construction for which would begin after maintaining formalities, while the proposal for the rest of the stretch of 35 km has been forwarded to higher authorities.
“We want to construct good roads and that needs to be done at any cost for the convenience of the masses. The face of Arunachal Pradesh will change after all the ongoing road projects are completed”, Singh added.
Naharlagun Division Executive Engineer, Nani Tath also informed that T K Engineering has assured to mobilise maximum tools and plants shortly to be deployed for Itanagar-Naharlagun stretch of road to expedite the work.
