RONO HILLS, NOV 7: The XVIIIth Uni-fest of the Rajiv Gandhi University commenced here on Tuesday in a spectacular note amidst a gathering of student, faculties and staffs.
Attending the inaugural event, All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) President Hawa Bagang encouraged the students to be pragmatic, maintain practicality and focus on studies.
He said, “Only politicians are not to be blamed for any unaccomplished aspirations of the society because every individual, from bureaucrats, technocrats, and students to the common public, has a role to play for the development of the state and nation as a whole.”
Addressing the students, AAPSU General Secretary Tobom Dai said, “Uni-fest is a very attractive programme, yet a source of distraction from academic performances.”
He also encouraged the students to embrace their cultural identity with pride.
Vice Chancellor of RGU, Professor Tamo Mibang spoke about the changes RGU has undergone from 1974 till the present time and how the number of departments came into existence.
The University festival or popularly known as Uni-fest is conducted annually by the Students’ Union of RGU in order to harness the skills of students at every field.
Various competitions such as sports, track and field, literary and cultural events will be organized during the three days event.
Earlier, the students participated in a mega welcome dance representing the different tribes of the state in a single show dance symbolizing unity in strength. Students from the Department of Yoga demonstrated the yogic abilities to heal illness with asanas.
