ITANAGAR, Nov 18: The Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Alumni Association is celebrating 40 years of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) establishment in Arunachal Pradesh as an acknowledgement to the VKVs for their significant contribution in the education sector.
Briefing media persons on the objectives of celebrating 40 years of VKVs in Arunachal Pradesh, VKV Alumni Association Chairman and Advocate Pritam Taffo said, “The VKVs have produced highest number of luminaries, technocrats and bureaucrats and other professionals in Arunachal Pradesh, and it is time to pay them back while also acknowledging their services”.
Taffo gave a brief on the establishment of the first VKV, established on 11 September, 1977 at Sher under Papum Pare district, followed by six more VKVs in Jairampur, Kharsang, Roing, Seijosa, Balijan and Oyan.
Currently, there are 36 VKV schools across the state, with more than 10, 000 students, of which 40 percent are hostellers.
Spokesperson of the Alumni Association, Bikash Bage further informed that two thousands alumni have been invited for the event, besides seven thousands parents.
Other than cultural, literary events and symposium, sports activities will also take place.
