ROING, Nov 20: The Dibang Valley Students’ Union (DVSU) and the All Idu Mishmi Students’ Union (AIMSU) have made a 12-hour bandh call at Dibang Valley district on November 24 after the district administration failed to take disciplinary action against the three government officials involved in the illegal confinement and serving of alcohol to three minor girls at their official quarter at Anini.
The AIMSU and DVSU had earlier served a letter to the Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner, EE (PWD) and DD (DUDA), Anini, for initiating departmental enquiry and to take disciplinary action against the trio.
The student bodies had also staged a peaceful protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on November 9 and had locked down the PWD and DUDA offices in protest against the authority’s non-responsive attitude.
The protest was halted till November 16 following a verbal assurance from the Deputy Commissioner to look into the matter, the student bodies said.
They threatened to continue their agitation for an indefinite period of time, if the concern offices fail to take necessary action on the matter.
Reportedly, the three officials are yet to return to Anini for further proceedings.
