DOIMUKH, Nov 27: Inaugurating the second edition of the Doimukh Festival on Sunday, Minister for Urban Development and Land Management, Nabam Rebia expressed happiness to see youths taking an initiative to preserve their tribal culture and tradition.
He also assured to look into the matter of including the Doimukh Festival in the state calendar event, with added assurances to sanction fund to the festival committee for construction of a porter track to reach Buddum Langne -a historical heritage site located near Doimukh.
Tax and Excise Parliamentary Secretary, Tapuk Taku said that since Doimukh is one of the oldest towns, with socio-cultural, economic and educational achievements, it deserves to have a festival which celebrates its name.
Taku also appealed to the people of Doimukh to maintain the spirit of hospitality.
Organising Chairman, Nabam Tado informed that the festival, which will conclude on November 28, has been organized with the motto of fostering love for tribal traditions and culture.
