ITANAGAR, Dec 4: The Galo Indigenous Faith and Cultural Council (GIFCC) has opposed the creation of the Department of Indigenous Affairs, terming it ‘unnecessary.’
In a press release, the GIFCC claimed that it was a tactic to develop a rift between indigenous faith believers and indigenous people who have changed their religion.
Claiming that its sources have informed of a ‘100 per cent job reservation for indigenous faith believers only,’ the Council asked the state government to lay out the terms and conditions of framing the recruitment rules policy.
Such a policy would not be conducive with regard to job reservation, it observed, and appealed to the Indigenous Faith & Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh to lead the organization with transparency and accountability, and bring all stakeholders of the indigenous faith believers into confidence while deciding on such issues.
