DC seeks support for peaceful by-poll

SEPPA, Dec 8: East Kameng Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Takuk has urged the candidates contesting the Pakke-Kessang by-poll, along with their representatives and party workers, to extend support for peaceful conduct of the bye-election.
The DC, who is the returning officer for the poll, on Friday convened a meeting with representatives of the candidates, Kameng Dolo (INC) and Biyuram Waghe (BJP), in the presence of general election observer M Joy Singh and expenditure observer PP Basak, during which the DC illustrated the RP Act and the rules and regulations of electoral process.
Assuring that the administration would make the election free and fair, the DC and the observers said no official who has been deputed for poll duties will either support or exhibit bias towards any candidate or a party during the election process.
SP Vikas Kumar dwelt on the dos and don’ts of election, and explained the role of the police. CDPO DK Thungon presented a brief on the status of the polling stations, electors, EVM, and VVPAT.
Nodal officers Kikin Tagi (expenditure monitoring) and Nondo Doka (media) also attended the meeting.
A mock poll was also conducted in the presence of the representatives of the contesting candidates.
Later, the nodal officers deputed for the by-poll were sensitized about their roles and responsibilities. (DIPRO)
