ITANAGAR, Dec 17: Youths of Baat village, led by Ganga Lake Development Committee (GLDC) Member Secretary, Dalin Tana, have built 30 bamboo baskets to be placed around Ganga Lake for use as dustbins.
Tana informed that the bamboo dustbins are being evenly placed all around the lake, in order to put a stop to littering at the lake. Staff of the tourism department also participated in the initiative.
Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner, Prince Dhawan, who is also the chairman of the GLDC, on Sunday requested people to “respect the effort and to keep the dustbins intact, as it would help in maintaining cleanliness of the area.”
The lake is a major tourist area in the Capital Complex and everyone should contribute their bit in maintaining the serenity of the area, Dhawan said. (DIPRO)
