DIMAPUR, Dec 20: Alenso Chai from Arunachal Pradesh was among nineteen delegates who were awarded with Diplomacy Awards during the North East India International Model United Nations’ (NEIMUN) 5th annual conference which was held at Don Bosco Institute here from 15-18 December.
In all, 150 delegates attended the conference which was themed ‘Youth, Peace and Security’, and included speakers like Director of the Peace Channel, Fr CP Anto and Nagaland Home Commissioner Abhishek Singh.
Social Welfare Parliamentary Secretary, Merentoshi Jamir, who also attended the conference, stressed the need for peace and security for developmental of insurgent-affected areas, especially in the Northeastern states of India.
Gadi Dreyfuss of Best Delegate and Training Director of the conference shared his extensive experience with Model United Nations and how it can benefit others especially, for confidence and public speaking.
The conference saw to the forming and passing of Resolution Papers in four committees namely GA1: Ensuring Access to Clean Water and Sanitation, GA2: Land Rights of Indigenous Peoples, GA3: Empowerment of Rural Women, GA4: Rights and Protections for Refugees Fleeing Conflict.
