CHASA, Dec 29: Education is the only key for a person to reach new heights of success, said MLA Wanglin Lowangdong during the golden jubilee celebration of the government upper primary school here in Tirap district on Friday.
Emphasizing the need of institutes of higher education in Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts, he lamented that poor students of the three districts cannot pursue BEd and technical courses due to the absence of such institutions.
Lowangdong announced Rs 50 lakhs from the SIDF/DoTCL fund for improving the school’s infrastructure.
Deputy Commissioner PN Thungon appealed to the parents to obtain health cards for their wards. He also announced Rs 50,000 for constructing a toilet-cum-bathroom for the school.
Former ZPC Lorang Loham and the event’s organizing committee President, Sephua Wangsu, also spoke.
All the teachers of the school, including the headmaster, were felicitated by the Chief of Chasa, Wangheh Rajkumar for their dedicated service.
A medical camp, a cleanliness drive, a literary competition, a run, and a cultural programme were organized to mark the celebration. (DIPRO)
