TALI, Dec 29: Electricity supply here in Kra Daadi district is likely to be restored by the end of January, 2018, while the bridge over the Kumey river will be completed by the end of March, 2018, if everything goes well.
According to the Power department’s electrical division EE here, the department has been facing problems due to unavailability of vehicles for transportation of men and materials, rough terrain, and dense jungle.
“Despite all these problems, work on power supply restoration will be completed by January 31, 2018,” said EE Gungli Tagung.
Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu, accompanied by the EEs of Power and PWD divisions here, recently drove along the Yangte-Tali road to take stock of the progress of power restoration and the bridge construction work over the Kumey river.
EE Bamang Raju of the Tali PWD division informed that cement-concrete foundation work on the transmission towers on the right bank of the river has progressed up to 10.5 mtr, while the construction on the left bank has not started due to delay in construction of a boat for ferrying the excavator.
He informed that officials from Kolkata-based CE Testing Company will visit on 6 and 7 January to supervise the ongoing bridge construction work. He said they will work on a “mission mode” to complete the bridge by the end of March, 2018.
However, completion of the bridge will totally depend on timely supply of required materials by the supplier.
The EE also said that, after the completion of the bridge, the remaining stretch of 12.6 kms road from the bridge point to Tali will also be made motorable by the end of 2018.
The DC said he would provide logistical support required for completion of the work. (DIPRO)
