GWS organizes seminar on connectivity

AALO, Jan 9: The Galo Welfare Society (GWS) organised a seminar themed ‘Leveraging road connectivity in the Galo inhabited areas: issues, challenges and opportunities’ here in West Siang district on Tuesday, on the eve of the GWS’ 18th foundation day.
Representatives from Dolok Bango (under Kangku circle), the Basar-based Lower Siang Elite Forum, and senior members of the society took part in the daylong deliberation.
Informing that many villages in the Galo-inhabited areas are not connected by roads, GWS President Dr JM Boje and Secretary Dr Minge Loyi said the seminar was aimed at “gathering mass opinion to put the problems before the government through the GWS.”
The people’s expression of resentment, through movements like ‘No road, no vote’ and bandh calls, over the inordinate delay in the construction of the Trans-Arunachal Highway are manifestations of the pent-up anger and disappointment they have been facing for a long time, they said, adding that road connectivity should be put on priority as communication holds the key to development.
Gomar Basar and Moi Bagra, who conducted the seminar, said the seminar was the maiden event “to give a platform to exchange meaningful ideas for better road connectivity to usher development.” (DIPRO)
