ROING, Jan 12: The volleyball championship organized as part of the Golden Jubilee Central Reh Celebration, 2018, began at the general ground here on Friday.
Twenty-four teams, including 8 women’s teams, are participating in the championship, which is organised by the Golden Jubilee Central Reh Celebration Committee (GJCRCC) and sponsored by the Arunachal Women and Child Welfare Society.
Principal GHSS Bolung Abu Saring, who inaugurated the championship, spoke about how in the olden days both the Idu and Adi communities participated in each other’s festivals and celebrated it together.
“It is important to showcase one’s traditions, culture and indigenous way of living through their festivals. We should share our joy and happiness with others”, he said.
He also lauded the theme of the GJCRC which is ‘celebrating eco-spirituality’.
Saring advised the participating teams to maintain discipline and team spirit throughout the championship.
The finals of the championship will be played on the 28 January.
