ROING, Jan 13: The ‘Joy of Reading Festival 2018’, with its storytelling and story-reading activities among the youths and mini book exhibition marked the decennial celebrations of Lohit Youth Library Network here on Friday.
Inaugurating the book exhibition, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Cheshta Yadav lauded the youth libraries for consistently promoting a reading environment in Roing town since last one year.
She appealed to the higher secondary schools in and around Roing Township to initiate reading activities regularly and assured all support of the district administration in spreading the joy of reading in their neighbourhood.
“Extensive reading alone can get you admission to reputed universities”, she said.
Addressing the valedictory function, Library patron K L Thard and chartered accountant Mayur Agarwal also lauded the Lohit Youth Library movement for helping a large number of rural students to discover the joy of reading.
Roing VKV Principal A Krishnan and RIWATCH Executive Director Vijay Swami also spoke.
Over 100 students from government and private schools of Roing town participated in the storytelling and story reading contests, the winners of which were awarded with attractive prizes.
The function was jointly organsied by the RIWATCH Roing, the district administration and Education department of Lower Dibang Valley district.
