YINGKIONG, Jan 15: The district level football and volleyball championship for Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy in Upper Siang concluded with the final matches played at the general ground here last Friday.
Tuting and Yingkiong blocks won the men’s and women’s football, defeating their respective opponents in the finals.
Tuting defeated Mariyang block by a solitary goal in men’s football, while in women’s football, Yingkiong block defeated Mariyang block 3-0.
In volleyball, Yingkiong block emerged the winner in both men’s and women’s sections, defeating their rival teams from Geku block.
The men’s team won the final match by 3-1 sets while the women team registered a straight 3-0 set victory.
The winners of the district level championship will represent Upper Siang in the state level championship scheduled to be held at Aalo, West Siang in the last week of this month.

Our correspondent adds from Roing: The finals of the district level Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy of Lower Dibang Valley were played at the ITI ground here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Monday.
In women’s football, Cheta FC defeated Parbuk FC 1-0. The winning goal was scored by Toktil Ngukir. Nunung Bitin was adjudged the best player.
In volleyball, the Koronu women’s team was declared winner after their opponent team failed to turn up for the final match.
In men’s football, Arongo FC beat Jia FC 4-0. Limbi Menjo, who scored the goals, deserving the ‘best player’ title.
In volleyball, the Hunli-Desali team beat Parbuk team in straight 3-0 sets.
The winning teams were awarded cash prize of Rs 50,000 each while the runner’s up teams were given Rs 25,000 each.
