NEW DELHI, Jan 21: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein laid stress on timely release of state’s share of central taxes and the need to finance the rejuvenation of the state’s ageing infrastructure during a pre-budget meeting convened here by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday.
The pre-budget meeting was held to discuss the broad outline of the union budget and to understand the expectations and needs of states with Finance ministers of all the states.
Mein submitted a detailed memorandum to the minister to apprise him of the requirements and issues of the frontier state.
Presenting the needs of Arunachal Pradesh, Mein told the gathering funds are required by the state for financing the maintenance of PMGSY roads; developing smart cities and funding of smart city ratio from 50:50 to 90:10 for the state; providing connectivity to the border areas, especially near the China border; and maintenance of frontier highways and problems facing TCL, like insurgency and drug trafficking.
The union finance minister took note of the points raised by the DCM and said he would take the demands of Arunachal Pradesh under active consideration.
