NEW BAM, Jan 22: The head gaon burah (HGB) of Bam village in West Siang district, Rito Bam, passed away at his residence here on 17 January.
He was 85, and is survived by his wife, four daughters and six sons.
Born in 1932, Rito Bam was appointed as the gaon burah of Bam in 1981, and was elevated to HGB in December 2010 by the then West Siang deputy commissioner.
The Lego Lemgo Welfare Society has expressed deep shock and grief over his demise and termed it and irreparable loss to the society.
